The lightning bolt icon signifies the Dew Point is greater than 70 degF, which is conducive for lightning in the area. It is just a prediction and the weather station does not sense lightning directly.

Can my unit detect lightning?

The Ambient Weather WH31L Lightning Detector is compatible with the WS-2000/WS-4000/WS-5000 display consoles.

If there is an exclamation point ! or mark next to the WiFi icon on the WS-2000/WS-4000/WS-5000 display, it means the display is connected to WiFi but the WiFi is not connected to the Internet.

Most routers today are dual-band, meaning they have both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands.  Our devices need to be connected to a 2.4GHz band of WiFi, and while our devices will connect to a 5GHz band, they cannot report via that band.

You may be able to access your routers user interface to separate these bands or, better yet, turn off the 5GHz band while connecting your device.  Once you are connected, you can return that 5GHz band to service, and your weather station should stay connected.  If you do not have the ability to access your router's user interface, typically you can reach out to your internet service provider, and they can assist with this.

Rain gain is a factor used to calibrate rain gauges, ensuring they accurately measure rainfall. It's a multiplier applied to the raw readings of a rain gauge to account for potential inaccuracies or variations in the gauge's sensitivity.

The Formula for rain gain is :

GAIN = (Expected Output) ÷ (measured Output)

OR

GAIN = (The verified reading of a trusted source) ÷ (Your rain gauge's reading)

  1. Once you have calculated your gain, you can enter that into the Rain Gain field on the CALIBRATION page of your WS-2000, 4000, or 5000 console.  You can access the CALIBRATION page by pressing the settings icon three times.
  2. Next, use the or to navigate to the Rain Gain option.
  3. Pressing the will open the Rain Gain screen.  Pressing the once will highlight the Rain Gain window.
  4. While the window is YELLOW, the digit you are altering will be highlighted in RED.  You can use the or to increase or decrease the digit.  You can then use the or to change which digit you are altering.
  5. Once you have entered the appropriate GAIN, you can exit this screen by pressing  twice to take you back to the home screen of the console.

Congratulations on your new WS-4000 outdoor array.

To ensure that the indoor console and array will function properly together.
We need to ensure that the following steps are accomplished.
Please ensure that your station has been updated to at least Hardware Firmware version 1.9.0.
This added the compatibility with the WS-4000 outdoor array.
You can accomplish this through the about section of the indoor console if your station is capable of over the air firmware updates.
Otherwise, please follow the steps below.

Download the latest hardware firmware file to your computer and save as Factory.bin. Make a note of where you saved this file.

Note:  File may download as another file name, please rename to Factory.bin.

  1. Copy the Factory.bin to your Micro-SD Card (the SD card must be empty and format FAT32).
  2. Power down your display console by removing AC power.
  3. Insert the SD Card into the display console.
  4. Power up the display console.
  5. The console will verify the firmware was updated.
  6. Power down the console after complete. Remove the SD Card when the console is powered down.

Once this has updated, you can then accomplish the steps below to ensure that the proper outdoor array is registered.
