Soil Moisture Sensor
Summer can often lead to unpredictable weather and various amounts of rain, severe storms, or weeklong droughts. Water is a crucial part of plant health, and too much or too little can stunt growth, cause root rot, or even kill a plant. The Ambient Weather WH31SM Soil Moisture Sensor provides the moisture levels in your soil and is a crucial component for watering schedules or home irrigation systems.
Add up to 8 Soil Moisture Sensors across your garden to get an overview of the moisture content in your soil, or add a sensor to each pot to track specific plant levels. The options are endless! Just insert it into the ground, and it transmits the moisture content data once per 72 seconds to the display console and your personal weather dashboard on the Ambient Weather Network™. /p>
The Soil Moisture Sensor is not a standalone sensor and must be purchased with either an Ambient Weather WS-2000 or WS-5000 Weather Station.

Soil Temperature
Soil temperature drives plant growth and affects germination throughout the growing season. For example, if the temperature is too low, seeds may fail to germinate, and if the temperature is too high, dehydration can occur. Temperature can also impact water absorption along with root growth and the availability of nutrients. To ensure your plants can develop properly, the Ambient Weather WH31P Waterproof Probe Temperature Sensor and the Ambient Weather WH31SRS ® Solar Radiation Shield are a must-have for any gardener.
Install the Solar Radiation Shield on the weather station pole mount and place the Waterproof Temperature Probe device into the enclosure to protect it from harsh outdoor conditions. Then, place the probe in the soil where you want to measure soil temperature. The Waterproof Temperature Probe is only compatible with the WS-2000 and WS-5000 Weather Stations.
Humidity
For owners of greenhouses or sunrooms with plants, the Ambient Weather WH31E® Temperature and Humidity Sensor can help monitor the humidity levels of your environment. Many plants are native to humid climates and require high humidity levels to thrive. Using the humidity sensor, you can ensure that your plants are getting the moisture they need. The WH31E sensor also monitors the temperature, which is essential for plant development and photosynthesis. Monitoring both temperature and humidity can help create an optimal growing environment for your plants.
Place the sensor in an area of concern and view your measurements in real-time on the LCD display or your personal weather dashboard on the Ambient Weather Network via one of our compatible weather stations. The WH31E sensor can be used as a standalone, but it is not recommended as you will lose the capability to monitor conditions and receive alerts remotely. Our sensor also talks to other IFTTT smart devices, so you can do things like close shades when the temperature is too high.
