TFT Full Color LCD Display

Our sleek desktop display is freestanding or can be mounted on a wall. This vibrant, dynamic LCD display is easy to read day or night, features a light or dark colored background, and automatically controlled brightness settings based on time of day. Connect additional displays (sold separately).

Measured parameters combine with calculated data:

  • 'Feels Like' Temperature (Wind Chill and Heat Index)
  • Dew Point
  • Gust (the maximum wind speed sampled once per second in the 16 second update period)
  • 10 Minute Wind Speed and Direction Average
  • Sunrise, Sunset, Moon Phase
  • Forecast
  • And more!

The WS-5000 also displays minimum and maximum conditions with time and date stamp, historical archived data, which can be exported to SD Card (optional, not included) for advanced data analysis in Excel. The SD Card is also used for firmware updates.

Ultrasonic Sensor Array

The wireless sensor array features a pagoda thermo-hygrometer radiation shield with passive aspiration for the upmost accuracy, a bubble level for plumb installation, and a solar panel.

It connects to the console via RF (915 MHz) up to 1000 feet line of sight in open air (300 feet under most conditions). The wireless signal will not pass through solid metal, earth, or ground.

The sensor array mounts to any pole between 1.25 and 2" diameter with adaptive mounting bracket and U-Bolt design that can be tightened to your mounting pole (not included).

Extra Large Rain Cup

The extra-large rain cup ensures better accuracy. Since the sensor is wireless, it can be placed close to the ground, and the removable lid makes for easy service and maintenance.

Indoor Thermo-Hygrometer-Barometer

The WH32B indoor sensor will monitor temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure. One sensor is included with the WS-5000 weather station system.

  • COMPLETE WEATHER STATION: (1) Ultrasonic Sensor Array, (1) Rain Cup, (1) Indoor Thermo-hygrometer-barometer, and (1) TFT Full Color LCD Display
  • ALL-IN-ONE SENSOR ARRAY: No moving parts, fast and easy set-up, and real-time updates to weather conditions every five seconds.
  • SMART HOME READY: Set up alerts, access your data remotely, and program your home based on weather conditions using IFTT, Google Home, Alexa, and more
  • ENHANCED WIFI: Enables your station to transmit its data wirelessly to the world's largest personal weather station network (optional setting)
  • JOIN THE COMMUNITY: Connect to the Ambient Weather Network to customize your dashboard tiles, share hyperlocal weather conditions via social feeds and create your own forecasts (coming soon).

TechHive Editors Choice

Rated as the "Best home weather station platform" by TechHive

Ambient Weather does the best job of designing and manufacturing a home weather station that can be incorporated into a smart home. The WS-5000 impressed us with its easy setup, accurate reporting, and support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT. We also like its app and its color console. It’s a big step up in price compared to Ambient Weather’s WS-2902, which is still available, but you’ll find the investment to be justified.

Product Questions

Q. What is this coil spring that came with my rain gauge?

It is a stainless steel filter which is included in the package. It’s aimed to stop leaves or bird droppings to avoid the obstruction of the cone hole.

The installation is simple: press the filter until the hook is inside the outlet hole and self -locked. The spring tension will keep the filter sit tight on the funnel.

WS-2000/WS-2902A Wireless Weather Station Printed on the part as WH65B

Preventive Maintenance and Reset of the Outdoor Sensor Array. (Printed Part: WH65B)

To ensure that the outdoor weather station array stays in proper working condition please follow the steps below:

1.Replace the batteries. We recommend fresh Lithium Energizer and here is why:Why Are Lithium Ultimate Batteries Recommended And Not Alkaline Or Rechargeable Batteries?

2. Make certain the rain gauge is level. If not perfectly level, the tipping mechanism will not work properly and under report rain.

3. Visually inspect the rain funnel. Is the funnel missing? To replace the funnel, please visit: https://www.ambientweather.com/amws2902funnel.html

4. Check the funnel for any debris. Clean the funnel.

5. Remove the funnel and check for any debris that may be affecting the tipping mechanism. Tip the mechanism back and forth. Does the rain update on the console? Check for any bugs or dirt. Clean with a damp, soft cloth.

6. In heavy downpours or sideways wind, the rain droplets can “bounce” out of the rain gauge. Use Teflon spray: https://www.amazon.com/DuPont-Silicone-Lubricant-Aerosol-14-Ounce/dp/B00D3ZKVAS to prevent accumulation of the droplets on the walls of the rain gauge.

How to Reset the Outdoor Sensor Array:

  1. Cover the solar collector to shut of the solar energy source.
  2. Remove the batteries.
  3. Let sit for up to 24 hours to drain the solar capacitor.
  4. Reinsert fresh batteries.
  5. Press the reset button (#10, below) for a full minute with a pointed object, such as a pen tip:

6. Uncover the solar collector.

7. LED(#11) should flash once per 16 seconds. If it is not flashing, the sensor array must be replaced.

8. Power down and up the console to resync(Remove batteries and AC Adapter then reinsert)

9. May take a few minutes for the outside array information to display on the console

*If the weather station array is not communicating properly with the indoor console AFTER performing ALL of the steps above then the outdoor sensor array OR individual sensor/sensors will need to be replaced.

**Why Preventive/Routine Maintenance needs to be done:

Ambient Weather stations are not designed to connect and send data over an open-air Internet connection such as cellular or satellite-based Internet. Even though the station may connect we cannot guarantee that it will send data consistently. This is due to a concept called Time to Live or TTL which states that our website is expecting data to arrive at a specific interval. The way data packets are handled by these type of connections does not allow the data to arrive when our website is expecting it. Therefore, the data is rejected as being invalid for not arriving at the correct time and you may see no data transmitting or inconsistent data transmission.

The control console for the WS-2000, WS-5000, and WS-4000 require a 5V AC power adapter in order to operate.  If this adapter falls below 5V output, the console may experience this "STARTING" loop, or the device may lose function all together.  Replacing this AC adapter will most likely resolve this issue.

If your device is within the 1 year manufacturers warranty, you can fill out the Warranty Request form found at the link below.
