KestrelMet 6000 Weather Station Review
Mattison Crowe Comments

At Ambient Weather, we’re known for our products and the community of weather enthusiasts that use them. Because weather is personal, to us and to you, we spend time looking around and thinking about how to make the experience of sharing and understanding weather more valuable for people.
For instance, some people need weather stations to run their businesses effectively. Many of them need to capture and track environmental conditions very accurately from remote locations, places where Wi-Fi is not practical in terms of effective range. Under those circumstances, Ambient isn’t the best fit for their technology requirements. But our sister company, Kestrel Instruments, does have a solution that was designed with this type of user in mind.
The KestrelMet 6000 is great at striking a balance between having a full suite of commercial grade weather sensors to monitor conditions, and a turnkey approach to weather station design. The station array comes preassembled and ready to deploy right out of the box. In fact, the entire system can be set up, installed, and online in about 20 minutes. This is a big departure from other weather stations of this caliber. Complete your site survey as you would for any weather station and install the array.
The KestrelMet’s integrated solar panel extends the battery life of the station to between 2-5 years keeping maintenance to a minimum. The other key feature that helps it stand out from the crowd is its use of cellular communication and affordable data plans to make these stations convenient to deploy anywhere there is a cell signal. Remote areas suddenly become monitored locations on your map. The station records all the primary measurements: wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, barometric pressure, relative humidity and temperature. The 24-hour aspirated fan and solar radiation shielding keep air moving constantly over the sensors, improving measurement accuracy over passive -shielded weather stations without a fan.
On top of all these benefits, KestrelMet includes the first year of cellular data free with your station purchase. For more information, visit our product page.
