AmbientTool Upgrade Program

On January 31st, 2023, the AmbientTool App was discontinued.

The AmbientTool App allows you to connect the Ambient Weather WS-2902 Weather Station Console, versions sold from December 2016 to May 2018, to your Wi-Fi router and the internet during the initial setup.

If your WS-2902 console disconnects from Wi-Fi for any reason and needs to be reconnected after the app discontinuation date of 1/31/2023, you will no longer be able to reconnect your console to the Ambient Weather Network (AWN).

This does NOT affect any WS-2902A, WS-2902B, and WS-2902C consoles purchased AFTER May 2018. These consoles utilize the Awnet App for the setup process. Moving forward, the WS-2902D will no longer require an app for internet connectivity, allowing any user to connect using an internet browser.

If you own one of the affected consoles, it will continue to work until you have to update any Wi-Fi settings; this may include a firmware update or after resetting your console. Once the AmbientTool App is sunset and you need to perform one of the above activities, your console will still showcase your weather station readings. However, the console will stop reporting your personal weather station dashboard information to AWN, including data collection and tracking.

To maintain a connection to AWN, you will need to upgrade to the Ambient Weather WS-2902D Console.

Ambient Weather is offering a discount for those affected by this app discontinuation. You will be eligible for a $35 console rebate for a limited time. Take advantage of the rebate offer here

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Ambient Weather WS-2902D Wireless Console is a must-have for your home. With its bright and easy-to-read LCD color display, you can easily monitor your indoor and outdoor conditions in real-time.

Product Questions

Q. What is this coil spring that came with my rain gauge?

It is a stainless steel filter which is included in the package. It’s aimed to stop leaves or bird droppings to avoid the obstruction of the cone hole.

The installation is simple: press the filter until the hook is inside the outlet hole and self -locked. The spring tension will keep the filter sit tight on the funnel.

Pressing WIND + and PRESSURE – at the same time for 5 seconds does not do anything. The buttons work when pressed individually.

  1. Make sure the console is plugged into wall power. If it is not plugged in, the console will not connect to WiFi or the Internet.

  3. If you own a WS-2902A, turn the lights off in the room and turn the console around. Make sure the AC adapter is plugged in.
If you do not see a blue light, the console WiFi chip is no longer working properly and the console needs replacing.
  4. If the blue light is present, try performing a factory reset on the console:

How Do I Restore Console To Factory Default Or Factory Reset, Osprey Series?

If the problem persists. the issue is likely a problem with the AC adapter, and in some instances, the console itself.

To test the AC adapter, remove the batteries and plug the console in. If the console does not power up, the AC adapter is faulty. If it does power up, make sure you are not using a third party AC adapter (for example, a power adapter from outside the USA).

Ambient Weather stations are not designed to connect and send data over an open-air Internet connection such as cellular or satellite-based Internet. Even though the station may connect we cannot guarantee that it will send data consistently. This is due to a concept called Time to Live or TTL which states that our website is expecting data to arrive at a specific interval. The way data packets are handled by these type of connections does not allow the data to arrive when our website is expecting it. Therefore, the data is rejected as being invalid for not arriving at the correct time and you may see no data transmitting or inconsistent data transmission.
